QUOTE
"“Some hardships in life can be met through strong will and hard
work. As a Navajo, I think of the many thousands of families on
our reservation in New Mexico and Arizona who’ve long lived
without access to electricity service or running water, and still
do.”"
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Adella Begaye began working as a nurse and health care translator
for the Navajo people over 25 years ago. Since then, she has
assumed a leadership position within Diné CARE, an organization
that specializes in protecting landscapes that have been damaged
by the extractive actions of private companies and various
governments. Her leadership has aided projects that combat
deforestation and overharvesting, by instead looking at
sustainable energy resources for the Diné people.
