Cara Flores Mays

“ At some point, we all have to ask ourselves: what kind of Guam do we want to leave for our children and for our grandchildren? Times may be hard. But there is no amount of money that can buy back our land or our culture.”

Cara Flores Mays is a community activist and core member of the We Are Guåhan group, which focuses on the preservation of the land, culture, and language of Native Guam people from the militarization and colonial rule of the United States. Through We Are Guåhan, Cara Flores Mays has produced the film “We Are Pågat” that further engages with the militarization and ecological conservation for the Chamorro people.
