Eileen Gray
“To create, one must first question everything.”
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Gray was an Irish architect and furniture designer. In addition, she was a pioneer of the Modernist movement in architecture. Her most notable work was the design of hers and Romanian architect Jean Badovici's home, E-1027. According to critic Rowan Moore, E-1027 "grows from furniture into a building." Gray was fascinated by lightweight, functional, multi-purpose furniture, which she called "camping style."
