Elsie de Wolfe

“I am going to make everything around me beautiful, that will be my life.”

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The New York Times claimed that Elsie de Wolfe invented interior design as a profession. The New York City native was reportedly extremely sensitive to the built environment. Her designs moved away from the ubiquitous Victorian style and favored more feminine, delicate designs featuring light, intimate effects, and uncluttered room layouts.
