Hilda Flavia Nakabuye
“The world should listen to women as they can draw on their experiences to solve the climate crisis. It must also make space for voices from Africa and developing countries that are grappling with the impacts of a warmer world.”
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Hilda Flavia Nakabuye is a climate and environmental rights activist. She founded the Fridays for Future chapter in Uganda, an international student-led movement fighting to overcome the climate crisits. She often shares the personal story of watching her grandmother’s crops die from new prolonged dryspells and extended droughts. She fights to spread awareness and credible information while calling on world leaders and policy makers to step up. Nakabuye criticizes the lack of diversity in media representation of climate activists, and those not in the global north.
