DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Wilma Mankiller was the first woman Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. Inspired by indigenous activism to reclaim Alcatraz Island, she began her own community activism work in Oklahoma, where she organized a community self-help project for safe water access and home repair. |
