Zhang Yuquan was a Chinese architect. She is regarded as the first independent female architect in China. Zhang was admitted into the university and finished her degree, in spite of financial difficulties and political unrest. She co-founded an office with her husband and kept the firm running after he passed away. After 1950, she started working with the government due to political and economic reform.
