Artivism
Artivism is the co-production of art and organizing work. This list of women artivists have critiqued inequalities and colonial legacies in the built environment as they affect Black, Indigenous, and Brown communities. Their innovation has resulted in bodies of work that are not recognized, even rejected by Western architecture schools. Their work is central to discourse about mass grassroots movements, innovating within various art forms to improve the lives of oppressed and marginalized communities.
