Indigenous Theory and Practice

Indigenous communities on every continent have been disenfranchised by settler-colonial imperialism, which dispossessed them of their right to land ownership. In turn, many Indigenous womxn architects and planners foreground environmentalism, spatial justice, and protectorate strategies in relation to land use, and have created structures for immediate aid for Indigenous communities. The contributions of Indigenous womxn architects provide a new understanding of how the built environment can be conceived, in confrontation with settler legacies.
